What is a Surface Box?
A surface box is a protective cast iron or ductile iron enclosure placed over shallow underground utility controls, such as stopcocks, water meters, gas valves, and fire hydrants. Unlike large manhole covers designed for human entry, a surface box provides a compact, secure access point for specialized tools and keys.
Its primary function is twofold: it prevents dirt, debris, and unauthorized access from compromising the valve mechanism, while also providing a heavy-duty shield against the crushing weight of vehicular and pedestrian traffic above.

With a massive annual melting capacity of 12,000 MT, Aris Foundry has the scale to deliver standard and custom-sized boxes that strictly adhere to international performance standards, including EN124, ASTM, and BS.
